THE WHITAKERS: MARGARET SEATON(4) 1777-1835

Margaret was the third child of Rachel Chenoweth and James Kenner Seaton. She married Levi Grafton Whitaker, at the age of 19, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Levi was the son of John Whitaker and Martha Grafton, who had brought their family to nearby Shelby County, Kentucky. In the late 1820s a couple of the sons of Margaret and Levi began to migrate to Morgan Co., Indiana. Levi and Margaret joined them sometime before 1834. Also going to this area of Indiana were Margaret's brother, George Seaton, and Ephraim B. Chenoweth, the son of her first cousin. Margaret died shortly afterwards, at the age of 58, in neighboring Owen Co., IN. Levi lived on another 14 years and is buried by his wife, Margaret, in the Samaria cemetery in Morgan County, Indiana. All these Whitaker, Seaton, and Chenoweth families would live and intertwine in the Morgan County up to and including present day.
