JOSEPH(5) 1797-1858
Joseph was the oldest son of Nicholas Chenoweth and Ruth Hale. He was born October 1, 1797 in Washington Co., TN, a couple of years after his father had come to Tennessee. He married there at the age of 20, Lydia Bean, the daughter of Edmund Bean and Margaret Ellis. Lydia was 16 at the time. Joseph became a doctor, but also farmed. Sometime before 1843, Joseph and Lydia moved to Madison Co., Arkansas where their last child was born. The previous 9 children were all born in Washington Co., TN. The family is found in Prairie Township of Madison County in the 1850 Arkansas Census. In 1858, at the age of 60, Joseph died. Lydia lived in Madison County till she died on February 18, 1880 at the age of 78. Joseph and Lydia are buried in the Wilkins cemetery, two and a half miles south of Hindsville, Madison Co., AR.
