THOMAS(3) OF HARFORD CO., MD Abt. 1756-1820
Thomas is believed to be the son of Richard and Kezia Chenoweth born about 1752 in Baltimore Co., MD. He is misplaced in the Chenoweth books as the son of Arthur. Cora placed the birth of Richrad's son Thomas about 1840, but records seem to indicate that he was, as were most of Richard's children, younger that she had postulated. We know by his will that Richard had a son named Thomas who was to receive a 1/4 share of Richard's lands. In 1783 Thomas is living with his brother Arthur as single men with no land in the Back River Upper Hundred. Records indicate that this Thomas went to Hartford Co. and he is found there in there in the 1800, 1810 and 1820 Censuses. Hannah, the sister of Thomas, also went to Harford Co., so this move eastward from the Back River Hundreds is appropriate for what little we know of Richard's family. Thomas married Rachel Norris on January 01, 1788 in St John's, Hartford Co., MD, the daughter of Thomas Norris. Several children are listed for them, but the only continuation we have of any of them is for Benjamin Norris Chenoweth, born about 1797. This is the one sole male Baltimore line we have today for the line of Richard other than the various unconnected unknown Baltimore lines. The Chenoweth name however appears to have died out in 1973 with the Baltimore death of James William Chenoweth, who never married and is the only known 7th generation male known of this descendant.
