This is a list of the male Chenoweths in the family of John Chenoweth and Mary Calvert that we have not found (and believe we still might) in the 1870 Census. If you have any insight to where they are, or can find any of them, you help would sure be appreciated.

  1. James Othanial T. (age 31) - single man, will marry in Roane Co., WV in 1876
  2. John Samuel Carlyle (age 25) - single man, will marry in Nevada in 1876, parents are in Oregon
  3. Isaac Newton & family - should be in Barbour Co., WV
  4. William (b: 1820 MO) not found with family in 1870 in Iowa, may be deceased
  5. James William & wife - married in Illinois in 1868, shows up in Kansas by 1874
  6. George W. (age 28) - single man, last seen in Pike Co., IL in 1860, shows up in California in 1880, maybe with father
  7. Charles Leroy (age 20) - single man, last seen in Pike Co., IL in 1860, shows up in California in 1880, maybe with father
  8. William Lemuel (age 28) - single man, marries in Sonoma CA in August, maybe with parents
  9. Abraham Van Meter & family - s/b in Linn Co., MO
  10. James William (age 23) - single man, marries in Daviess Co., MO in 1878
  11. Hezekiah Stites - not with family in 1870 - last seen Iowa (1860)
  12. Erastus M. (age 10?) - Ohio, both parents deceased, will marry in St Louis in 1879
  13. Mason - last seen 1850 in Hancock, IL, went by several aliases, will be in Franklin and Senaca Counties, OH in 1880
  14. Jonas S (age 26) - single man, marries in Montgomery Co., KS in 1874, last seen 1860 in Pickaway Co., OH
  15. James, Jr. & family - should be in Missouri
  16. James Reuben (age 32) - single man, maybe with parents in Missouri
  17. Milton W. (age 25) - single man, marries in Montgomery Co., KS in 1873, last seen Missouri
  18. Elias (age 79) & wife - last seen in 1860 in Jay Co., IN, may be dead
  19. Elias (age 35) never returned from the Civil War, he is said to have deserted his family and lived in Indiana until 1925
  20. Elias (age 58) & his wife have never been found in any modern Census. Last seen in Pike Co., OH in 1840.
  21. James Francis, Jr. is not with his family after the 1860 Census in Illinois. He is said to have died in 1895 in Missouri, but has never been found in the 1870 or 1880 Census.
  22. James Milton and his mother (recently widowed) and sisters. They should be in Williamson Co., IL in 1870. James marries in Illinois in 1879
  23. William T. (age 23) - single man, probably with his parents in Clinton Co., IN, the entry is too light to read
  24. Thomas John & family - married in 1867 in Mason Co., KY. He and his wife should be found there
  25. James Bruce (age 70) last seen in 1860 in Bureau Co., IL, may be dead
  26. James C. - last seen at the 15 in 1850 Census of St. Louis
  27. Alvie is missing from the 1870 Census with his parents in Mississippi. He is with them 10 years later in 1880 in Livingston Co., KY
  28. John Russell (age 22) - single man, last seen in 1860 in Harrison Co., IN dies in 1884
  29. John H. (age 25) - single man, last seen in Clark Co., IL in 1860, will die in 1871, thought to be in Illinois
  30. Justin, recently widowed, has left his children with others to raise. Should be in Oregon or Washington. Appears in Whatcom Co., WA in 1880

  31. Abner Bruce & widowed mother should be in Washington Co., AR
  32. Osmund (age 39) last see in both California and Arkansas in 1850. May be dead
  33. John W. (age 23) - single man, is seen in Arkansas in 1860. He will marry in Wise Co., TX in 1883
  34. John Richard D. (age 8) - may be with his mother in Washington Co., TN but neither has been found. His father died during the Civil War. Family generally used the spelling Chinouth
  35. Isaac Newton & family should be in Barron Co., KY.
  36. Archibald H. (age 27) - single man, is last seen in Izard Co., AR in 1860. It is not known what happened to him
  37. Joseph M. married in 1868 in Greene Co., MO. Joseph M. & family should be in Arkansas. In 1880 they are found in Greene Co., MO
  38. Washington & wife lived in Hartford Co., MD. He is last seen in 1850. She is found widowed in Hartford Co., MD in 1880
  39. William E. (age 24), the son of Washington, is never found after the 1850 Census. Finding his family in 1860 and 1870 would help define his life. (Hartford Co., MD)
    LINE OF ARTHUR(2)
  40. John M. (age 22) - single man, is not found until the 1900 Census, when he appears in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH at age 50. His family has not been found in 1850 or 1860 and should be in Cincinnati. where he was in between is not known
  41. Richard Marshall (age 27) - single man, will marry in Carroll Co., MD in 1872
  42. Christian Emory (age 27) - single man, will marry in Baltimore City in 1903
  43. George Edward is found in Baltimore City in both 1860 and 1880 each time with a different wife. It is not known when he was widowed between or where he and any family is in 1870. His one known son, John W., (age 15) will marry in the late 1870s.
  44. Ferdinand & family should be in Baltimore City in 1870
  45. John (age 40) - single man, is last seen in Tuscarawas Co., OH in 1850. It is not known what happened to him
  46. John H. has never been found in a Census. He married in Marshall Co., MS in 1871. His parents were living in Paris, Henry Co., TN at the time.
  47. Cornelius Batty married in Parke Co., IN in 1868. He and his family should be in Indiana or Illinois.
  48. George Davenport & family - George was a minister and moved around a lot. Born in Virginia, he was in Maryland in 1850 and Pennsylvania in 1860. He died in 1880 where his widow is found in Washington, DC.
  49. George Durbin (age 23) - single man, would be an engineer and marry in 1898 in Woodbury, Glouchester Co., NJ. In both 1860 and 1880 he is found near his parents in Pennsylvania and Washington, DC
  50. Alexander Crawford married on April 19, 1876 in New York City. he should be found there
  51. Benjamin Davenport (age 46) - single man & lawyer, will marry in Alabama in the mid 1870s. he apparently moved around a lot. He is last seen in Texas in 1860
  52. Hamilton J. & family should be in Massachusetts where Hamilton is found in 1850. His 3 sons, Charles Augustus, Frank M. and Herbert Albert have not been found either
  53. James T. & family are last seen in Baltimore City in 1860. It is not known what happened to them
  54. William Edward (age 26) - single man, will marry in Baltimore City, MD in 1880. He is last seen with his mother in 1850 shortly after his father died. He served in the Civil War and is known to have been living in Washington DC until 1874. He would become an undertaker.
  55. John (age 25) - single man, is never seen after 1850 when he was with his mother in Baltimore City shortly after his father died. It is not known what happened to him
  56. Jerome N. (age 21) - single man, was last seen in 1850 when he was with his mother in Baltimore City shortly after his father died. He is believed to have married in 1883 and is found in New York City in 1900
  57. William (age 49) was widowed in 1856 in Baltimore City, MD. He is not found in a Census until 1880, when he is located in Baltimore City
  58. John H. (age 25) - single man, is found in 1860 & 1880 in Baltimore City.
  59. Rixton (age 55) - is last seen in Cumberland Co., PA with his wife in 1860. IN 1880 he is a widower in Ohio. It is not known when his wife died.
  60. George F. (age 18) - was with his parents in Cumberland Co., PA in 1860. He marries in the early 1870s in Pennsylvania and is found in Dauphin Co. in 1880
  61. John R. (age 25) - single man, is found in every Census from 1850 to 1910 in Baltimore Co., except he has not been found in the 1870 Census.
  62. William F. (age 15) - is not with his father in 1870 in Baltimore City. His mother died in 1860 and it is likely he is with relatives.
  63. George Thomas (age 16) - is not with his father in 1870 in Baltimore County. His mother died in 1856 and it is likely he is with relatives. He marries in 1875
  64. Chester (age 22) - single man, was in Crawford Co., OH in 1860. In 1880 he is found in Wood Co., OH
  65. Adolphus Herman (age 20) - single man, was in Seneca Co., OH in 1860 with his mother who has remarried. He was born in Baltimore Co. In the Mid 1870s he marries in Maryland and is found in Carroll Co. in 1880. He has not been located in 1870
  66. Rufus M. & family should be in Knox Co., TN where he is found in 1860 and 1880
  67. Arthur A. K. (age 24) - single man, will marry in 1871 in Decatur Co., IN, he probably came to Indiana from Tennessee
  68. William Bruce W. is probably with his widowed mother in Knox Co., TX. They have not been found in 1870 yet.
    LINE OF WILLIAM(2)
  69. Joseph - is never found in any Census. He was born in Warren Co., OH. He supposedly died on September 07, 1894. His father, Joshua, died when he was a young boy. His mother Lucinda Benjamin remarried to Caleb Satterwaite and has not been located either.
  70. David & his wife are probably in Warren Co., OH. He dies in December and she is found in Warren Co. in 1880, a widow
  71. Casper (age 27) - single man, was in Greene Co., OH in 1860 and will marry in that county in 1883
  72. Thomas Benjamin & family last seen in Huntington Co., IN in 1860 should be in Indiana
  73. James Hampton (age 27) - single man, may be with father in Huntington Co.
  74. John (age 51) - single man, is last seen in Warren Co., OH in 1860
  75. Thomas Henry (age 20) - single man, will marry in Randolph Co., IN in 1871, his parents are deceased
  76. Edwin (age 16) - single man, will marry in Randolph Co., IN in 1875, his parents are deceased
  77. John (age 31) - is last seen in 1850 in Vinton Co., OH. He is believed to be the John Chenoweth who marries Christina Hall in Pickaway Co., OH on August 09, 1860.
  78. John B. (age 44) - widowed in 1850, John is last seen in Iowa Co., IA in 1860
  79. James Walton - his wife is in Iowa Co., IA and one of his daughters with relatives, James is not found. He is back with his family in 1880 in Pottawattamie Co., IA
  80. John (age 16) - is not with his father or mother, should be in Iowa, however he has never been found in any Census.

  81. Daniel and his brother, John Corwine, both in their early 20s, maybe with their widowed mother who has remarried to Nathan Jacobs in Vermillion Co., IN
  82. Elijah (age 22) - single man, will marry in Vermilion Co., IL in 1873
  83. William H. (age 23) - single man, should be in Pike Co., OH, he is here both in 1860 and 1880
  84. John Wesley & family are in Hopkins Co., TX in 1860 and New Mexico in 1880
  85. John (age 23) - is last seen in 1850 in Tippecanoe Co., IN, with his aunt. He is believed to be the John Wesley Chenoweth who marries Mary Ann Anderson in Piatt Co., IL on April 05, 1860.
  86. David McElwain & Family should be in Missouri
  87. John Wesley (age 23) - single man, should be in Missouri or Oklahoma. He marries in Atoka Co., OK in 1878
  88. Hiram L. (age 43) - single man, Has not been found after the 1850 Census of Grundy Co., MO.
  89. Montford Scott (age 9) - is not listed with his parents in Livingston Co., MO
  90. Joseph Smith & family should be in Daviess Co., MO
  91. Richard Addison (age 11) - his parents are dead, by he and his sisters are not yet found, assumed to be in Daviess Co., MO
  92. Frank M. (age 11) - his mother has died and his father is found in Warren Co., IN. He is believed to be with relatives in 1870
  93. Clarence Prentice (born Mar 1870) is not found with his parents in Tippecanoe Co., IN. It may be that his date of birth is off slightly
  94. Richard William (age 20) - single man, will marry in Tippecanoe Co., IN in 1875
  95. William Asbury (age 24) - single man, last seen in Vermilion Co., IL in 1860
  96. Thomas (age 57) - single man, last seen in Madison Co., IL in 1840, believe to have died in 1883, but never found in a modern Census
  97. Jeremiah Browning & family should be in Madison Co., OH
  98. John F. & wife married in Madison Co., OH in 1865
  99. Thomas Franklin (age 25) - single man, was in Madison Co., OH in 1860 and is found in Lancaster Co., NE in 1880
  100. Simeon (age 20) - single man, his parents are in Madison Co., OH, he will marry and be in Kansas by 1876
  101. Thomas J. (age 25) - single man, last seen in Vermilion Co., IL in 1860, will marry in Warren Co., IN in 1875
  102. Richard W. (age 25) - single man, his mother has died and he is not found with his father and stepmother in Taylor Co., IA. He is last seen in 1860 in Johnson Co., IA and will be in California in 1900.
  103. John W. (age 24) - single man, will marry in Fulton Co., IL in 1875
  104. James Moore (age 23) - single man, will marry in Effington Co., IL in 1873
  105. Joseph Gideon (age 17) - single man, is never found in a Census. He is given to have died in 1902. His parents live in Pike Co., OH
  106. William (age 32) - is widowed and will remarry in 1872 in Bourbon Co., KS. His children are living with relatives.
