ARTHUR(4) 1786-1859

Born in Allegany Co., MD, en route to the family's migration to Mason Co., KY, Arthur was still a young boy when his parents crossed the Ohio River into the Scioto Valley, where they would settled in what would be Pike County. His life is confused in both Chenoweth histories. Cora Hiatt had him in Kentucky married to a Bowen daughter. Richard Harris repeated this error, but actually found the real Arthur listing him in the unknown section of his book. Details of this mix-up can be found on the background information page . Arthur married twice. The first time to Elizabeth Parker on May 02, 1811. This marriage ended in separation and eventually in a divorce, which was not obtained until 1837. There are three known daughters of this marriage all born in Ross/Pike County area. Arthur moved with his parents and siblings to Tippecanoe Co., IN in the mid 1830s. He married there on October 20, 1837 Anna Warren. She was about 35 years of age at the time. They had two children and they are found living together in the Sheffield Township of Tippecanoe County in 1850. Arthur was the executor of his father's estate and spent a good many years settling these affairs. He died at the age of 73 on June 05, 1859 in White Co., IN and is buried in the Carr cemetery of that county. The next year his widow Anne is found in the Census of Boone Co., IN. The one son Isaac N. died in the ensuing Civil War. Three of the four daughters appear to have married but their lines are largely undeveloped.
