CASPER(5) 1800-1832/3

Casper was born in Frederick Co., Virginia to William and Catherine Rinker Chenoweth, and named after his grandfather, Hans Casper Rinker. Casper would die at the early age of about 32 or 33, leaving Sarah Cabe, his wife of 13 years, with seven children. They had married in Warren County, Ohio where Casper had come as a teenager with his parents. Sarah was under age at the time, and her father granted consent for the ceremony at the Miami M. M. Meeting. The Cabes were Quakers. Both Sarah and her sister, Charlotte, had married Chenoweth brothers, Casper and Jacob respectively, within a few months of each other. They were the daughters of Elias Cabe and Sarah White from Bucks Co., PA. At some point the family moved to Wayne County, Indiana, as that is where Casper was living when he died. Guardianship papers were filed in the Wayne Co., IN, court on Sept. 14, 1833. Sarah would later remarry to Elijah Harris and have another six children by him.
