THOMAS(4) Late 1700s-1818 m: ANN QUIRK

Thomas is known by widow Ann Quirk and his one son, Edmund Chenoweth. Thomas Chenoweth and Ann Quirk were married April 27, 1815 in Nachitoches Parrish, LA. She was born February 8, 1790 in Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., KY and died about 1860 in Desoto Parish, LA. She was the daughter of Edward Edmund Quirk and Anney Alsop. Thomas died well before in 1818. Edmund married Nancy Oliphant Loggins. She was born about 1815 in North Carolina. He is listed in the county clerk's office of San Augustine County, Texas, on the muster roll of Captain William D. Ratcliff's First Regiment, Third Brigade, No 55. Edmund probably died before 1850, when Nancy and children were enumerated in that year's Census living in Desoto Parish in Louisiana. She and two of the children, James and Sarah, were also recorded in the 1870 Census as residents of Limestone County, Texas.

Thomas, a son, served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War as a Private in Company C, 16th Louisiana Infantry Regiment. He was captured and released. Later he fought in the battle at Resaca, Georgia where he was killed in action on May 15, 1864.

POSSIBILITIES: There only one name we have for a Thomas, whose age would fit This Thomas that married Ann. This is Thomas the son of John Chenoweth and Rachel Kerr, last seen in Pike Co., OH. It is a bit of a leap to match however based soley on the name of Thomas, without a date or place. DNA testing has established that this line is part of the family of John Chenoweth and Mary Calvert, but the link is uncertain. DNA has ruled out the only other possibility that could be found. This remains unproven and a puzzle.
