JOHN E.(5) abt 1839-1874 m: CHRISTINA HALL

HARRIS: This John is known mainly through information about his spouse and children. John married Christina Hall in Pickaway Co., OH on August 09, 1860. She was born January 12, 1842 in Ohio, died April 4, 1928, presumed in Macon County, Illinois, where she is buried in the Salem cemetery located in South Wheatland Twp.

From information known about John and Christina's six children, the family first lived in Ohio, where the first child was born in 1862, then moved to Macon County, Illinois, where they remained and where all the rest of their children were born.

Christina survived John, and remarried October 2, 1877 in Macon County, Illinois, to Miles Dikerson. He was born about 1843 in Ohio. They had one child, Lewis James Dickerson, born 1879 in Macon County. Two of John and Christina's children, George and John Walter, are also buried in the Salem cemetery. Daughter Laura and her husband J. Fred Wolfe lived in Decatur, Macon County.

son Charles: (Harris page 597) born in January, 1862 in Ohio, died February 12, 1941 in Pierce County, WA. Charles married August 23, 1881 Mary 'Maggie C.' Morris in Macon County, Illinois. She was born in July 1863 in Illinois, died May 16, 1940 in Pierce County, Washington. In the 1900 Census, Charles, Maggie, and their children were enumerated as residents of Decatur, Macon Co., IL. His obituary, in the Decatur Herald and Review, stated that he was a resident of Graham in Pierce County, Washington when he died, and that he had lived there for several years after leaving Decatur.

The obituary also noted he was a brother of Mrs. Laura Wolfer and John Chenoweth and was survived by half brother, James Dickerson, and half sisters, Mrs Ada Willoughby and Olllie Bel May, both of Decatur.

grandson William Arthur: (Harris page 634) born August 29, 1894, died April 26, 1977 in Los Angeles County, California. Married September 5, 1922 to Pearl Rupp, by Arthur B. Peck, Minister. Pearl was born December 19, 1900 in California, died March 1, 1983 in Los Angeles County. William and Pearl are buried in the Columbium of Piety in Forest Lawn cemetery located in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California.

ADDED DETAIL: Based on research done by John McCall, John had a middle initial of "E" and married Christy Ann Hall on August 9, 1860 in Pickaway Co., OH. He died 24 July 1874 but left no will. His probate papers names his children as: Charles A., Edward I., George H., Laura J. and John W. The family is found in the 1870 Census of Macon County in South Wheatland.

PLACEMENT: John(6) Ison(5) Edward(4) Isaac(3) William(2). John was born ca 1839 in Ohio and his father, Ison, was living in Hocking County in 1860. Hocking County abuts Pickaway County where this John, of similar age, shows up to marry. The fact that one son was named Edward I. gives some credence to this guess. In March 2010 this placement was assumed and John merged into the main database. See John E. of Ohio. In 2021 this line was proven by DNA.
