WILLIAM R. (5) 1833-1886 m: MARY ANN 'MARIA' MCKINNEY

HARRIS: Born August 2, 1826 in Pike County, Ohio, died August 23, 1886 in Douglas County, Oregon. Married May 29, 1853 in Washington County, Oregon to Maria Anne McKinney. She was born August 16, 1836 in Logan County, Ohio, died December 11, 1908 in Jackson County, Oregon.

William came to Oregon in about 1850, and to Douglas County about two years later. On April 3, 1854 he registered a Donation Land Claim in Douglas County. In 1860, he, Maria, and their two boys were enumerated in that year's Census living in Winchester Precinct of Douglas County. That record noted that William was then a laborer.

By 1880, when William and Maria were counted in that year's Census still living in Douglas County, their oldest son had married. The younger son had died a number of years earlier. The 1880 Census listed William as a farmer.

William R. and Maria were mentioned in the article in the "History of Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, Curry and Coos Counties, Oregon-1884." The article noted that William was then living 6 miles N.E, of Roseburg, and was a farmer and a gardener.

William and Maria are buried in Roseburg Memorial Gardens located in Douglas County, Oregon.
